New BioWare-Style RPG 'Greedfall' Launches Today, And It Looks Excellent

Greedfall is being described as an RPG in the vein of BioWare or CD Projekt Red, but instead of Dragon Age or The Witcher, we're treated to a setting mirroring European colonialism of the New World.

(Note: Greedfall is developed by Spiders, a much smaller studio than BioWare or CDPR, so don't expect all the bells and whistles, but this looks like a major step in the right direction from that studio, which has been hit-and-miss in the past).

Of course, it's still a fantasy with magical beasts, court intrigue and all the rest, but in a setting that's pretty unique as far as video games go. The only other major game that really touched much on this theme at all (that I can think of) was Assassin's Creed III.

In any case, Greedfall is out today and I will be playing it to see what all the fuss is about. So far it's doing quite well on Steam with user reviews, but has very little in the way of critic reviews. I hope to have some impressions soon.
