Pizza Hut Unveils New Ad Campaign For NFL Season

In its second season as an NFL partner, Pizza Hut has a brand new ad campaign featuring Aaron Donald, Todd Gurley, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyler Lockett, as well as activations aimed directly at fans.

“Our first season with the NFL was amazing,” says Marianne Radley, chief brand officer at Pizza Hut. “Ultimately, the priority for year one of the partnership was to increase awareness and reach more fans across the country – which we achieved.

“The partnership helped us reach an entirely new audience of football fans, allowing us to dominate share of voice among NFL social mentions within the pizza category throughout the 2018-19 season.”

Pizza Hut signed Donald, a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time Defensive Player of the Year, as a new brand ambassador this year. He stars in one of the ad spots for the season and will be offering an exclusive fan experience.

Asked what makes Donald a good fit for Pizza Hut and its partnership with the NFL, Radley says it began with Donald’s love of pizza.

“Aaron is a perfect fit across the board. First and foremost, Aaron is an avid pizza-lover,” she says. “Additionally, we have a great relationship with the LA Rams, they’ve been awesome partners and Aaron really stood out because of his love of pizza, charismatic personality, and of course, his incredible play on the field. He’s just a perfect fit.”

Brand ambassadors Gurley, Smith-Schuster and Lockett return with ad spots of their own. As part of the Hut Hut Win campaign, each ambassador is offering experiences of their own. Donald’s winning prize is a ping pong party, while Gurley’s prize is a game night.

Smith-Shuster’s prize involves joining him to make pizzas at Pizza Hut headquarters.

Lockett’s prize is joining him for an escape room experience.

Radley says the perfect brand ambassadors love three things: pizza, football and the fans.

“We also leverage our team partnerships with the Rams, Chargers, Steelers and Seahawks to find great players who inspire fans and who fit our personality. We’re thrilled with our current roster and are looking forward to continuing these partnerships. “

Entering year two, Radley says they brand is looking to leverage its partnership even more to reach the everyday fan.

“In year one, we got our feet wet. In year two, we’re diving in head-first, delivering once-in-a-lifetime fan experiences and millions of prizes through Hut Hut Win.”
