Wireless speakers are rarely considered ultra-premium audio gear as they’re relatively affordable and not considered to be the pinnacle of audio reproduction technology by some people. However, that hasn’t stopped Linn, the Glasgow-based high-end audio specialist, from unveiling its new Series 3, an all-in-one, wireless speaker, which it claims is unlike any other and embodies five decades of audio innovation.

The Series 3 is being launched in Linn’s brand-new flagship showroom in Harrods, Knightsbridge, London, and has a price-tag to match. The press blurb says the new speaker “exudes elegance in every way and will fit seamlessly into any home and enhance every day with exceptional musical clarity”. Boasting an unrivaled combination of looks and outstanding audio performance, Linn claims this is the world’s best-sounding wireless speaker.

Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn Managing Director said: “Series 3 is the culmination of nearly 50 years of audio innovation and Scottish precision engineering, driven by our unwavering passion for music. Offering high-performance audio quality combined with the convenience of wireless, Series 3 will change expectations of what wireless speakers are capable of. Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, your own music collection… wherever your music comes from, Series 3 will make you fall in love with it all over again.’

Series 3 blends elegance with precision engineering in a stylish new design featuring flowing curves and natural materials, which have been carefully selected for their audio properties, ensuring that Series 3 is a feast for the listener’s ears as well as being easy on the eye. Using Linn’s own patented Exakt technology, first developed for the company’s flagship Klimax System, Series 3 ensures that music arrives at the ear perfectly timed to deliver a natural sound as recorded by the artist.

Every Series 3 is hand-built at Linn’s factory in Scotland and engineered with a precision that ensures it can bring your music to life in incredible detail for a closer connection to the original performance than ever before.

Series 3 can be controlled directly from a phone or tablet or by using the six smart buttons on top of the speaker. Alternatively, voice commands can be used when Series 3 is connected to a voice assistant. There's a Linn control app for browsing and discovering new music through various high-resolution streaming services such as Tidal and Qobuz, as well as support for Apple AirPlay, Spotify, Roon, Bluetooth, and 24-bit high-resolution audio. Series 3 also includes an HDMI ARC input for those choosing to improve the sound of their TV.

Linn claims that Series 3 offers “incredible room-filling sound” and that by adding another Series 3 it’s possible to create a stereo speaker system that will sound even better. Series 3 can also be set up to create a multi-room system by placing a speaker in different rooms around the home to play in unison or independently.

The new Series 3 is Linn’s first product with plug and play setup and doesn’t require specialist installation. Unlike a lot of Linn’s gear, Series 3 can be taken, plugged in and will be ready to start listening to immediately.

Pricing: £2,950 for one speaker, or £5,450 for a two-speaker system. Series 3 will launch with a “Harrods Exclusive” gold grille version, and it will also be available with a chrome grille. Series 3 will be also available via Linn’s network of specialist retailers from 2020 onwards.
