New ‘Borderlands 3 Hotfix: Moze Nerfs, Amara Buffs And FL4K Un-Nerfs

Another weekly Borderlands 3 hotfix is here, this time with even more balance adjustments as Gearbox tries to tune its four classes to all be viable at around the same level. There are still some omissions here, but for the most part, this seems to be more good than bad, including the reversal of some previous nerfs in earlier hotfixes.

So, what’s in store for our champions this week?

Amara

She’s getting a buff to Alacrity in that it actually works how it’s supposed to by stacking reload speed buffs.

She’s getting a pretty huge buff to Phasegrasp, with the distance you can grasp targets now doubled, and the skill is instant refunded if you miss someone. Gearbox says this is to encourage more weapon types for her other than just shotguns/SMGs and the like.

Moze

This is a tricky one. First, Gearbox has reverted the nerf on the “return grenades on hit” skill that was nerfed to a 2 second delay. That’s now down to 0.3, but Gearbox promises to address “infinite grenades” later on. This is in response to this doing nothing to fix the problem with splitter grenades, but instead making all other grenades pointless on her.

Moze is getting a nerf to her Bloodletter Class Mod which allows healing to be given to her shield instead of her health. The nerf is to increase its recharge delay by 150% and reduce the recharge rate by 50% so you have to be healing manually instead of also getting naturally fast shield regen and recharge. We’ll see how this works in practice for one of her most popular “immortality” builds.

FL4K

Quite simply, Gearbox realize they screwed up with the Leave No Trace nerf which made the skill functionality useless as it returned only one or two ammo per magazine with a 2 second cooldown. Now it’s 0.3 seconds and will hopefully feel more useful again, and bring FL4K’s boss burning back up a little bit.

FL4K is also getting a buff to his Anointed skill where hitting stuff with his Rakks will now give a 100% damage bonus instead of 50%.

Zane

This is more or less a bug fix where Death Follows Close wasn’t increasing the duration of some of Zane’s Kill Skills, so this is a buff by just fixing something broken, it seems.

Zane is also getting an Anointed skill buff where his clone swap damage increase is going to 130% from 70%.

General

Not relegated to specific classes we have:

  • The Lob tick damage up to 60% from 20%
  • Carrier damage buffed by 60%
  • Creeping Death damage buffed by 100%
  • Gunerang damage buffed by 20%
  • Scope zoom on some snipers and ARs has been reduced.
  • Pain and Terror will now drop better loot.
  • I think they fixed the bug where you’d drop through the floor after the Troy fight, among others.

All sounds good to me.

As ever, I am still looking for Moze mech buffs, FL4K pet buffs and Anointed immunity nerfs, but we’ll see if those ever arrive. Zane, now that he’s getting a lot of his broken skills fix, is starting to shape up nicely. Time to go test some things.
