The UFC heads to Tampa, Florida, for the first time in more than three years for UFC Fight Night 161 on Saturday, October 12. The event, which streams on ESPN+, features an important strawweight contest between former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson in the featured bout.

Jedrzejczyk opened her MMA career on a 14-0 run. Five of those victories were in defense of the UFC strawweight title. Jedrzejczyk’s winning streak—and title run— ended in November 2017 when she was knocked out by Rose Namajunas. After that, Jedrzejczyk lost a decision to Namajunas in April 2018 before returning to the win column with a decision victory over Tecia Torres. In December 2018, Jedrzejczyk attempted to win the vacant women’s flyweight title. She lost that contest to Valentina Shevchenko via decision.

Meanwhile, Waterson is currently on one of the best runs of her career. The ex-Invicta FC atomweight champion started her UFC career with a 2-2 record. Waterson is currently on a three-fight winning streak. Her most recent win was a March decision victory over former strawweight title challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

There is a chance that the winner of this bout could face the current strawweight champion, Weili Zhang.

In the co-main event, Cub Swanson faces Kron Gracie in a featherweight matchup. Swanson, who has been with the WEC/UFC since 2007, attempts to end the longest losing skid of his career at UFC Fight Night 161. Swanson has lost his four most recent bouts. Gracie, son of the legendary Rickson Gracie, made his UFC debut in February when he submitted Alex Caceres in the first round.
